Beautiful Algae, what is it?

This pretty bright pink "bushes" have been showing up on one of our live rocks. We know the hair algae in the back, and the fern looking stuff around the pink is a mystery to as well. Any one know what we are looking at? And is it okay to have in the reef tank?
Thanks for all of your help!

It's definatly a plant and not a coral. It's not slimy like hair algae, it is softer than a sps. It seems to be attached by one piece and then it grows into a little round bush of pretty pink y's. And it only grows on the edge of that rock, not on the top or sides.

It looks like the pink galaxy algae. It's a calcium based algae.I actually paid $9 for my galaxy algae. It is a deeper shade of red under metal halides.I've read that under less intense lighting they retain their pink color.Lucky you..

yes, it's bendy. It looks somewhat like what is in the pictures, but it's not quite the same. Yours has very long "branches", mine are much shorter. However, it has grown immensely since I wrote last. I will attach a new picture.

So do you think if I "pluck" it off of my rock it would be okay? I mean would it still grow? Fragging won't be an issue, it seems to love my tank and is starting in new places every few days.

hah, you might have a nusance after awhile. Add a little calcium to the tank and see how fast it takes off!!!
By the way - I'm jealous! I want some!

afterthought I have had something like this before. Back when I had a native reef (south Florida ) tank I had the same type thing growing in my aquarium. I had an angle (see avatar) and he pooped so much that I had pods everywhere and I know that my DOCS were very high. I took him back where I caught him after 2 years. Now he is swimming with the fishies I hope.
