Sorry, for mislabeling, you are correct.
I have them protected from the light a little until they get adjusted to my tank, then I will move them up in the rock work a little bit.

Tangsfornuttin,
You can stress out clams switching from different lighting schemes, ie VHO to MH. A lot of the vibrant colors in clams like maximas and croceas seem to help protect them from UV rays. If a clam has been under low lighting it will increase its zooanthalle (sp?). This makes the color fade and the clam will turn brown. This lets them absorb more light, but at the sacrifice of UV protection. If they then get put then under intense lighting, they may start to bleach. If you don't know what lighting the clam has been under, or you are making a big lighting change, it's not a bad idea to adapt them to your lighting slowly.

They were kept under stronger lighting, but this is what the guy I got them from said to do anyhow. Being shipped was probably plenty stressful and a new home stressful again, I believe a quiet spot for a little while is the idea.
But, holy cow, the crocea is tremendous. it's about 3.5 to 4 inches and the derasa is about 3 inches.
And the man I got them from CALLED me to make sure they arrived ok, and that I understood the aclimation process.
He and his wife are on their way to a clam farm in Palau to get more for his farm. He said in a few weeks he's going to have some magnificent specimens.
