Ya I know...thanks for checkin with me joker. As of now, it is not a big problem, and it looks like sand critters are multiplying. As for Thedjshow, I am a bit out of your way...in Riverview.

The sand sifters can deplete a sand bed in short order...but...I agree that they are very kewl creatures. I prefer to avoid them myself...but many folks like them and manage to keep them with no problems...my fromia just cruises the LR and glass...never really spends much time on or in the sand bed...

Fromia, IMO are at least as difficult as most Linckia. In a large tank (over 100g) with a lot of LR (a mature reef tank), etc ,etc...they might do OK. Same issues with not being able to spot feed in most cases (but always worth trying).
Fromia milleporella is generally a small star, sold as a "red bali star" but don't be tempted to put it in a small tank. Still tends to fair better, from what I can tell so far, in larger tanks.

Yes, quite a few. Only the sand sifter star specifically eats infauna.
However, the others, such as Linckia, have VERY SPECIFIC NEEDS, and should not be purchased, or suggested, without lots of research and background info. Too many of these stars die of starvation in inappropriate (small, immature, non reef) systems.
Chocolate chip, general and red african stars are predatory, and can be fed more easily, and kept in more diverse systems. Same is true of many brittlestars.
