Beginner Corals

For my new reef, I have already planned to get ricordias and mushroom corals. I will have PC lights, 1 white and 1 actinic...what other corals would be good and hardy for a beginner with those kinds of lights? It's only a 30 gallon nano reef, but I would still like a little bit of a variety without overloading the tank.

well i have a 65 gallon tank with 2 96 watt pcs on it and i have a good varitys of corals in it i have 2 frogspawns that have always done great a very hardy elegance, tons of mushrooms a colt a devils finger leather a yello gorgonian 2 brain corals but one is not doin to good , a very nice green bubble . it all depends on placement of corals and water current, so if you buy something make sure you reasearch it before you waste money.

How would this group of corals do:
mushrooms
ricordea
toadstool
sea mats
button polyps
Are there any of the above that you would recommend me to stay away from? Or would they all be fine for a first try at a reef?

Looks like a great list....good variety. You may investigate into the leathers a little further. There is great variety among the different species with regards to color, shape, and size. They also will thrive under PC lighting with good water quality. I wish you luck. I think you'll soon find yourself wishing that 29g was a 290gallon :D
