Besides Damsels, what are good beginner fish?

tomato clowns.
if your tank is cycled you could go for something cooler like a royal gramma or perc. clown fish.

Cardinals
Blue/Green Chromis
If you have a well seald lid or top on the aquarium perhaps
Blenny
Goby.
But please stay away from Scooter Blenny and Mandarin Goby These are for experts only, they have very specific needs. They are Dragonettes and mostly only eat pods.

Damsels are really not good start-up fish. if left in the aquarium, they will establish territories and usually kill more expensive fish. Stick with less territorial fish.

if your tank is est. a scooter blenny would be nice, mine is very hardy.
