Thoughts on this fish for a reef? I could get my hands on one for our larger tank and I'm starting to get more and more interested in it.

These are beautiful fish. I have tried twice to keep one in my tank (not at the same time). Both, unfortunately did not make it past 6 months. I qt'd them....both. I don't know if it was bad luck, or bad capturing and bad husbandry at the lfs or just not able to coup with the badgering of the other tank mates? I now have a Japanese swallowtail that is going strong, so far seems to be a hardier fish.
As far as being in a reef, when I did put them in they never went after any coral.
I wish you luck, they are indeed beautiful and ideal for a reef tank environment.

A fellow reefer in our club is taking down his tank and the female Bellus is available. I'm trying to get his Yellow and Hippo Tangs too. He has had all of them for a few years so I know they are healthy.
I just don't know enough about that Angel.

I would go for it. If the fish have been with him for that long, then they are very mature, and used to aquarium life. I really envy you. They are excellent angels for a reef system. Planktivores. This is what attracted me to them. Shouldn't even look at corals of any kind.

J, it will be a great addition. If this person has had it for a while and it's eating, you should have no problems. Genicanthus' are great reef angels.
I allready have a Lamarks and a Swallowtail. When I combine all my crud into 1 big system, I'm getting a pair of Bellus'.

Ever since the ick/finrot holocaust in the big tank 3 months ago I've been very skiddish on even thinking about getting any of the more sensitive fish from a LFS or online. Especially after I lost the Yellow Belly Hippo in my QT over a week ago.
Now I want to know where the fish is coming from and do prefer a local reefer.

Bellus Angel is in! She is absolutely gorgeous and was already eating in the acclimation bucket and now in the tank.
I ended up coming home with 5 fish instead of 3. I got such a great deal on them that I couldn't pass it on. + ended getting a good amount of frozen foods as well on top of the deal.
Home came with me:
- Female Bellus Angel
- 4-5" Hippo Tang
- 3-4" Yellow Tang
- Male Bartlett Anthias
- Blue Flavivertex Pseudochromis

Here are pics that I posted in my 150g reef build yesterday.
I've named her Speedy Gonzales (yep it's a male name for a female).
