Hey, i know some people around here keep bengal cats....im a big fan of animals, but the other half is allergic to them...i have a manager whos wife is also allergic to cats, but they have a bengal which has no effect on her whatsoever...i was wondering if this is true for all, or they just got lucky?? thanks! feel free to post pics of the bengals too!

I did a google search for "bengal cat allergies" and it does seem like these cats are good for people with allergies. One site thinks it is because they are part house cat and part Asian Leopard Cat. They are also a very recent species. Pretty interesting really.

We have clients with bengals - as with any purebred cat, you are looking at a myriad of genetic issues. Terrible teeth, bad ears, allergies, liver shunts, heart murmurs.... all of which are very costly to deal with in the long term.
plus all the bengals we deal with have TERRIBLE dispositions. They are some of the most difficult cats to handle, it's really exasperating.
I strongly suggest looking into adopting a shelter cat. There are so many fabulous cats out there that are homeless - and plenty of them even have the look of the bengals, if that's what you're after.

no, has nothing to do with coat, has to do with allergies like i mentioned...the coloration on them are just a plus...
