Hi there,
I just bought second hand(but pretty much new) Berlin classic skimmer. A guy sold it with Eheim 1060 pump. My problem is that there is no foam. The chamber is full of bubbles, but the foam level is very very low. I mean i have to open the cup cover and look down to see the foam. What could be a reason for this??? My 110 gal has 10 astrea snails, 3 small damsels, 1 sacrophyton, 1 open brain, about 10 small mushrooms, 1 carpet anemone and 5 shrimps. Is this due to low load or maybe the pump is weak?
Thanks in advance.

It could be both. I only run mine for a few hours a day. I can tell when there is "nothing" in the water to skim after that because the foam almost completely stops.
I have the turbo pump itself and to be honost Im not sure what the GPH is on it. It does seem to move alot of water even with the air mixture set fairly high to skim properly. Have you played with both air mixture adjustments? Ive found on mine that the top screw should be wide open, just tight enough to hold the air line in place. The adjustment on the pump itself is the key IMO. When the air bubbles start to creep under the last skirt in the mixing tube is when it should be trimmed back just a bit.
Maybe you could get the turbo pump upgrade. Ive seen it on a few sites for about $70.00 if I remember right.
I can say I love my Berlin classic turbo. It has been a great skimmer from the initial set-up. Its cleaning about 130 gallons of saltwater with ease. HTH

There is a small venturi valve at the base of the reactor, where the pump connects. Go inside with a dime or butter knife and remove it altogether, or clean it. Also, make sure there are no bends in the pump to skimmer hose.
