need opinions on what is best for zoos...
high, medium, or low lighting.
i have metal halide lighting 250w x 2 plus actinic 96w x 2.
some of the zoos i have are high up and seem to be doing fine, but i've read that they may be better off in medium or low lighting, and that if under intense lighting they may eventually melt away.

IME some zoos do better up higher, and some do better under lower light. The're not all the same.
As long as you slowly acclimate them when moving, they can adjust nicely to being close to the halides.

Could you get away with normal output lighting for any of them?

Mine seem to do better higher in the tank but still some grow faster than others. I started with compact lights and the zoos did fine but grew fairly slow. After adding the halides, I saw new grow in no time. Like most things in my tank, they get no direct flow so I am not sure how much flow they can handle.

You could expect brown zoos and 0 growth.

Mine tend to close up when they are located in parts of the tank which produce more flow. But I would agree that mine also do better higher up in my tank (but then again I dont have MH..PC's)

Mine seem to like water flow. I would say medium. The seem to like their skirts to move. I have read that they are all different in what they like for their lighting. Right now I have PC's but I will soon have MH and I will be able to see how they do.
I will let u know when I find out.
