Which HOB filter is the best on a 29 gal? Have 2 false percs, and 1 clown goby.
I like the Emporer 400...but with that said, I don't have one and nothing beats a good sump/fuge I <3 my sump.
the emp 400 would be to big for your tank. you could get away with the 280. i have the 400 on my 55g and i love it. i wish i would have done a sump on my 55 but its my first real tank by myself so i know for my new one.
I have the Hagen 50 on my 30g. I like it because it self-primes, and the replacement filters are sold everywhere.
I just took the 'rings' out, and put LR rubble in the bottom.

It's not like you can overfilter unless you're talking about pods. Why would the emp 400 be too big?
well it wouldnt be to big just over rated like alot almost 3X(80g). the 280 is rated a 50g which imo is def good enough. thats y i say that. i think that its like a $20-$30 difference in price to. and when you are building a tank that is the price of a good heater. it really depends on the budget i guess. idk i would probly do the 400 in the 29g to but ireally like to overkill things when it comes to tanks
