What i meant is it dissolved easier/ faster. IO is phospahte free and i didn not see a problem with that. Tropic marin seems to have more trace elements so i dont ahve to dose as often as i did with IO and the CA/ MG levels are higher so again i dont have to dose.
aditionally the bucket of tropic marin allows you to mix more water so the price isnt as high as you think when you see. You need to break it down to price per gal of water mixed.

I started with Oceanic and found the calcium was over 500 and alk was way low. I also found my Ph was low also.
I switched to Tropic Marin Pro Reef and found nearly the same issues with calcium and alk but the pH was better but still low. Both salts dissolved well.
IMO the Tropic Marin is a waste of money because it is priced to high for what I got and the Oceanic was cheaper. I haven't decided what to get next since my bucket of TMPro is almost gone but I will never spend that much on salt again unless it is proved to me that it really is better. I am looking at some cheaper brands like Reef Crystals or Coral Life. by the way when I first started the tank I had bought a bag (50gallon) of Coral Life to cycle my tank before the bucket of Oceanic came in. Interesting that my calcium and alk, and pH levels were perfect.

I may just buy a few 25 gallon mixes to see which is best for me. Whichever one works I can then buy a large container

its really all in what you pay for it i paid 50 for a bucket of IO that gives me about 150 gallons of water at a sg of 1.26
i paid 75 for a bucket of tropic marin pro that has given about 200 gal of water at a sg of 1.26.
doing a little quick math
IO = $3/ gal
TM= $2.67/ gal and i dont have to dose anything. Thats how i made my choice.
Made sense to me $ wise. If you buy in bulk its even cheaper so that might be something to look into.

interesting, never thought about that. anyone else have any thoughts. I've read in another post that most were using TM, its so much more expensive. Not sure i want to go that way....but looking this post looks worth it.
Any opinions on fo or fowlr setups, what salt you use?
