country critters is very good and have a good selection, but the prices are off the chart, you can find deals from other stores. you just have to constantly look.

A new place just opened. I think it is called Suffolk county fish and reef. they are in yahoo if you do a search. They claim to have opened the biggest showroom with the most gallons of water in the east coast.
Now I went after I heard the ad on the radio, but they had just opened and were still cycling the tanks.
They actually had a HUGE filter set up. Like an aquarium and it is all open to the publiv in a glass showroom.
The 2 guys that opened it were real nice and seemed to know a lot.
Not sure about prices as no livestock was set up.
I need to go back and see if they added fish and coral yet.
Right off the LIE I think Ronkonkoma

that store sucks, I work a couple blocks from there, the prices are outrageous, and the guy who runs it is a retard. It took him MONTHS to open up the reef tanks and when he did there were like mushroom polips for like 70 or 80 bucks. he can keep that sh@!. I think false advertising, and a bad selection sums that store up.
They do have a really nice filter system though. I cant take that away from them.
also one day I had to go and pick up some lock line fittings and the owner told me he dont carry it to go to home depot.. nice!!!

Well I guess you saved me a trip back.
Another one I like, is in or on the Plainview Syosset border.
Corner of S. Oyster Bay Rd and Woodbury Rd in the Plainview shopping center.
Called Mega Pets (495 to S. Oyster Bay rd exit {I think 43}) Take 43 South about 1 mile. shopping center on left.
They have the cleanest tanks I have ever seen. They have a 4 or 5 huge reef tanks and tons of fish.
only 2 small invert tanks.
The equiptment is a big coslty, but the livestock is reasonable.
They have the cheapest live rock I found on LI.
6.99 pound and they have the odd ball tank at $4.99 lb
The cheapest stuff in from this site, and for the most part everything does fine. I have stuff that is 6 -10 months old and doing great. Hard to find the price and variety SWF.com offers.
