Best nano skimmer?

I am thinking about adding a nano skimmy to my 29 G. biocube, has anyone had any success with the oceanic nano skimmers? If not, what other types have proven to be good?

i used one in my 14g bio-cube it was nice. pulled out alot of junk. the best part was that it got ride of the carbon filter set up in the first chamber so that was cool. then i had the fuge in the middle and it worked out very nice. as far as filtration went. the tank was cleaner then my other tanks. its well worth the $50.00

Well it depends on your budget. I think the little Oceanic skimmer for the Bio-Cube is junk.I added a Tunze 9002 skimmer to my middle chamber and LOVE it. Your looking at around $145 for one of these. Worth every penny if you ask me.

Joe-l has a thread on the nano board that has the pics he took of his Tunze in the middle chamber. You will need to dremmel a small piece of the plastic out to make it fit. I followed his thread and had no problems. I got the idea from him. Good call Joe

the best one is none , water changes in nano tanks do the job
small skimmers really don't do much
JMO I know it "looks" like they are working but they just don't pull out enough. I do 20% W/C and never have to add anything like trace elements and it keeps the water in A+ condition

Not to start a fight, but that doesn’t make much sense. To follow that logic if I had say a 200 gallon tank, with equal amounts of live rock, live sand, fish coral etc….. If the live stock ratio was the same as my Bio-cube then I would not need a skimmer in the big tank either? I do 15% water changes and still get a good amount from my skimmer. I am not overstocked by any means and did not add the skimmer to run my system on the ‘ragged edge’. I run the skimmer, Cheato and a piece of filter pad which I change monthly. I never had any issue and my tank is crystal clear and beatiful. Not starting an argument just trying to understand and possibly learn something……

i see what you are saying about the 200 gallon as long as the ratios are the same... but in a nano cube a change in water perams.... are alot easier to happen. this being said i think any tank could use a good skimmer and a regular water change. in a small nano tank a water change is going to do more than in a big tank. i would say that a skimmer would help but i think a good weekly water change will be just fine and there is no need for a skimmer.

Thanks for the advice, I do weekly water changes in all my tanks, from my 90 G. down to my 3 G. pico, I think Ill try one of these nano skimmers, after all it isn't that much money and Ill take anything that even adds a tiny amount of help to my corals.

No I haven't In my world FTW means something else. But thanks for clearing that up.

Yeah I had the same thought. Though I found it strange that advice would include that phrase.

Yea there is a HUGE difference between a 20 and a 200gal tank , I did a ton of research on the skimmer thing and what I found was the little ones do nothing and the big ones do too much
Well , you get what you pay for , especially in this hobby! a 30.00 skimmer will give you 30.00 worth of skimming....

I have a 24 gal aquapod. I was going to order the Current nano skimmer. My friend said no way. So I'm gonna get the red sea hang on back. I will have to modify my lid but he said it is a much better skimmer.

talking about the prism right?
I'm going to say yes without looking. My friend has one on his 24 ap and says it works better then the current that sits in the back.
