best plant for a refugium?

Kinda curious what the best plant I could get that would help lower nitrates the most!

The safest algae you can get that works good as an absorber is called Chaetomorpha

gracilaria is great too, especially if you've got a tang, since you can feed it to them fresh out of the fuge... :)

Yeah i've looked around a few sites and have not found this stuff you're mentioning for sale :( At the LFS's here they usually only have local FL plants for sale.. lots of mangroves.. which amazingly they sell for $4.99 yet I could pull off the road and pick up 100 for free :joy:

Mangroves are neat but not really the best for nutrient absorbsion. Thy just grow mass to slowly. Gracilaria is a great algae loved by most herbavoirs, but is tough to keep alive or keep growing. Thier is a guy called billsreef that lives on the east coast and has a good variety of algae's
