I'm buying a new Pump and was wondering which is the best? I need one that pumps 1200gph for my sump.

Iwaki is by far the best pump made, but it is external. I don't know if you need external or internal

Is ther anybody running Gen-X pumps? They have a magnet drive. Are they any good?

The Gen-X are cheaper pumps, My opinion with pumps is what you get is what you pay for! I would stick with iwaki or little giant or custom sealife.

I like my Little Giant. Some say they are loud, but I don't hear mine. Maybe I am just deaf.

Thanks for the advice guys. I picked up My new pump today I decided on a Little Giant 4 MDQX-SC 1380 gph max 1225 at 3' 1080 at 6'

IME the Iwaski and mak4 make the same noise. I have both. The Iwaki maybe a little better but not by much. I've flooded my iwaki and had to have it reapaired. My Mak4 dried out and started back up.... luck I guess. But IMO I would rather have an ampmaster= quiet. Mag pumps are good in sump out of sump more noise and they add heat to your tank. But thats not to bad unless you have 3 and no chiller
