Oceanic is good. Besides it mixing well...Which I don't really get because you shouldn't add it immediately anyways...it tests out with calcium 440, alk ~8, and mag a little high.

I read an article saying most of them vary from their elements that it contains the best one that stays consistent was Marine Environment.

an alternative to IO is Reef Crystals. . . . same formula with more CA and higher ALK.
Oceanic is nice though . . . thats what I use now.

I just set up my new tank with Oceanic. Great salt, IMO. It dissolves very quickly and the container reseals itself completely with no crusting over on the top of the salt.

Oceanic is really nice. It dissolves quickly, so that it's easy to get a hydrometer or refractometer reading and adjust the salinity while mixing. The Ca and Alk levels are also nice.

I have heard od individuals having problems with impurities in the red sea salt such as phosphates and nitrogen compounds.

I use Red Sea and a new batch for water changes alwasys tests in the low 300s with my Salifert test kit. I plan on switching to Oceanic when I get to the bottom of my tub in a few months.

I used to use Tropic Marin a long time ago. I hated it, but I was less experienced at that time. Is it considered good salt? I know it has low Cal, Alk and Mag levels, but many say its the best hands down. Thenagain, when you ask people what they like about it, they say "IT MIXES WELL"
BTW I use oceanic now.

oceanic for me~! i'd switched from marine enviroment few months ago. One thing that i notice after the switch is that, i dont need to dose alk and ca, after water changes. i've always had to when using marine salt.
