Im not sure about ogo all it says is that its un able to atach to rock. Mudd is great for rooted plants. because the roots are able to pull nutriants from the mud. floating and rock atached macros are just above the mud and unable to benifit from mud. rubble rock is great in any fuge, it helps with bio filtration and it is a great home for pods. I have heard that mud is too heavy and it compacts tightly so that copods have a hard time reproducing. but Ive not seen that myself.

Do you have anything else in your AquaFuge besides the cheato, ogo and the mudd? Do you have the light that CPR makes for it?

then what is the benifit of mudd if your floating algea canot absorb the nutrients. I know that mudd can be striped of all nutrients in a short amount of time just with water running across the top of it without any root system to help feed detris back into it

So...I guess that you have sand in your refugium? Using sand was my initial thought because I want to add a little more into my DT. If you were to set up a small AquaFuge 2 how would you do it? Thanks...

deep live sand bed 4 to 6 inches
chato
lots of live rock
high flow
6700k bulb
I looked into some of the other types of macro algeas but found it hard to find two that did not combat with each other.

Hi sign,, I have ZILLIONS of pods and bristles in there and have about 10 mini brittles as well, so that dispels the theory that pods and other organisms have a hard time living in thier. ALSO i have the mudd in there as some sort of TIME RELEASE system I guess,, Im sure their are things living in the mudd as well.. I know the pods like to scurry around on it as well. I agree that havingsomething rooted might be beneficial as well but my ogo and CHAETO esecially is soooo thick that no light will reach the bottom, the only thing that might make it is a long mangrove plant probably..

CPR threw in a really nice ALUMINUM light fixture, NOW they are charging alot for it,, 2 18w 6700 daylights, 36w total,, on the SMALL AQUAFUGE ps.. it came with light stand brackets as well for easy access,, I have it timed for 12hrs a day to coincide with my display tank,, some people like to run contrary to the DISPLAY, I heard other 24hrs a day kept on. I dont like to run CONTRARY becasue it puts out too much light and the fish will never sleep..

MiaHeatLvr...so you have the small Aquafuge 2? Do you also have the CPR light made for that fuge? What about LR...were you able to fit any of that into there? Is there any benefit to mixing LS and mudd?

I have problem with my pH going from about 8.4 during the day when my lights are on and dropping to 7.8 during the evening when the lights are off. I'm going to try having the fuge lights come on when the DT lights are off in hopes that it will help with the pH fluctuation.

I've got the fuge and set it up. Do you have bubbles coming out of yours? They go right to the top and pop so I don't beleive that it is an issue. Also, how long to you keep your lights on? In the evening when your DT lights are off? Seems to put a lot of lite into the DT...is that okay? thanks
