Best Surface of Sand cleaner?

Whats the best cleaner creature that cleans the top surface of the sand well? Do Cerith Snails do it very well or not really? Surface of sand is kind of brown-ish...
I have Nass. Snails (they just go under the sand and stir it), got a goby that sifts it but hes not enough really...
Had a horseshoe crab, he didn't do a great job and died...
Sand Sifting star = don't want a dead sandbed and when I had one he didn't do that great of a job....
What else?

Do you have enough current blowing across your sand bed? Between the Nass snails and current your sand bed should stay clean.
Horseshoe Crabs are not really sand bed cleaners, nor are they suited for aquariums.

Conches are the best, they dont eat or knock off corals, it will move the sand bed but not to deep to keep the anerobic bacterias. The only problem, they will get eaten by most of the hermit crabs!

What size tank are we discussing? Conchs are poor choices for Nano tanks, as a general rule, as they tend to outgrow the tank.
Also I'm curious on what type of Ceriths are knocking things over. My Ceriths were always very small. Maybe I had a different species.

well mine are kinda big, a few people tried to tell me they arnt ceriths but after googling them im still convinced they are ceriths. They just are big so they knock small frags off my rock, nothing is glued down because i have to move the tank back and forth 4 times a year from school

Journeyman we are talking about a 24g Nanocube.... So i'll stay away from Conchs..... I guess the only option is some ceriths....

I wouldn't necessarily right off the conches, you could always just remove it when it gets bigger. I remember Blazin swore by their sand cleaning abilities. Maybe start with the ceriths and go from there.

I still highly suspect lack of current is a bigger issue.
The current should be keeping the sediment off of your sand.

I just went through the diatom bloom on my rocks. NERITES all the way... I could only find one locally and he is a machine on the diatom bloom/brown algae.

whats so bad about sand-sifting stars, i have one in my 90gl, i was told they were the only thing that would keep my crushed coral bed clean.
