best temp for fish

I really dont think there is an ideal temp but they will do well at 78-82 I belive. Most fish will do fine in this temp. Some fish like the catalina goby generally will do very poor in this temp so there is exceptions. Best thing is to keep it at a stable temp. Higher temp is often associated with a faster matabolism.

I used to stop feeding my pond fish when the temp got below 60. From what I have read lower temp keeps metabolism slower and less waste.

Thats right
But you can feed until the temp reaches about 50 as long as you feed them a food low in protein (wheat germ). However, my fish seem to do just fine with being fed my 'normal' summer food all year long. I just reduce the feeding frequency to about every 2-3 days when the temp starts to fall under 65.
sorry for the highjacking...
