Best way to clean a tank?

I was thinking of using a combo of ammonia, bleach, and water to clean my tank is that a good idea?

Haha, kidding, but seriously, I am going to be cleaning a couple empty tanks and was curious what is 'safe' to use. In the past I have only used a window scraper and water. Can I use any kind of chemical (vineger, etc)?
I plan to use just water, and then use something else if it is a last resort.

Bleach requires lots and lots and then some more rinses. Air dry and rinse and rinse some more.
Koshering Salt actually is a great abrasive to clean with, and totally harmless to our critters. Use very little water so it won't brake down too fast while you scrub with anew sponge or new never used before dish rag.

Do what the professionals do. Bleach .make up a 1 to 5 part solution of bleach to water. Gloves eye protection and go at it. Rinse well and you are good to go

I just noticed...ammonia and bleach combined will kill you...it creates a deadly gas.

Funny you should say that. A buddy of mine was cleaning some coolers out and he mixed the two. He only took in a small breath and almost knocked himself out!!

I am a cleaning lady...I have to be very careful on mixing cleaning solutions, bleach and ammonia are deadly combos. I am very glad to have educated you a little, now you know!
