I need some advise on the best way for my set up to use activated carbon in my tank. I have a 90 with 90lbs of lr and 4-5 inches of DSB I am using a trickel (I know I don't need it) but I was wondering what you guys thought would be the best. I was thinking emperor or possibly a magnum 350 or something. Any imput would be great and thanks a lot.

I use a aquaclear 500,Although I heard its not good to carbon all the time. Because it sucks up alot of the trace elements along with the bad stuff.Life is choices.

Why is it that you want to use carbon at all? Have you put medication or something in the water? In fish only tanks with high nitrates and no DSB, it can help clear yellow water. With a reef tank and proper bioload, you should have crystal clear water without carbon.

Just drop a mesh bag filled with carbon in your sump (trickle filter). Replace it once a month with fresh carbon (Kent reef carbon or black diamond are good brands)
