That kit measures in milliequivalents/Liter (meq/l) I believe. The ideal range is 2.86-4.29 meq/l. Let me know what your level is when you get the kit and we will go from there.

the list:

3 damsels that i first started with
1 royal gramma
1 blue hippo
3 yellow tang (very small)
3 cleaner shrimp

No, you have enough tank size. I believe Beth was trying to figure out whether it would be more beneficial/easier for you to move everything to a QT tank or do hypo in your display. Judging by your fish load, I think doing the hypo in the display is neccessary.

can the liverock, hermits, snails, shrimp, and anemone go in a big tote with water, heater, powerhead, and lights on top of it work. i have two twin tube lights that where from my 125 when is was fresh water. can i put these lights over the tote/totes with all those things. will that be better than average idea. then just hippo the tank

Personally, the only thing I would worry about is the anemone going in there. Everything else should be fine.

just a thought what about getting all the fish out into a bigger QT or a big tote to put the in with so live rock and just leave the anemone and inverts in the DT. leave the DT fishless for 6-7 weeks.so that the rock stays fresh and no die off. the anemone will have the light. and the fish i can just hypo in what ever i put them in. also this will get me time to make sure all parameters are straight. again just a thought.

Yes, that would work. I would go for more like 7-8 weeks though just to be sure.

If you put an aquarium sponge (I like the sponge filter that hooks up to an ordinary air pump) into your sump for a few days to collect some bacteria this will help lessen the cycle in the QT. You still will want to test everyday, if you notice things spiking fast, then test twice a day.

i am going to use the DT water for the QT. so cycling is not a factor. i am doing this cause while the fish are in hypo i am adding a new stand, canopy and other things so while the fish hypo the new tank will get established.

Wow, you have learned to read my mind!

Agree, it seems best to hypo the display tank. 3 weeks from the date that all spots disappear is good enough for hypo. You need to take about 5 days to bring the water back up to normal.

You did not answer it in the other thread, but does your cannister filter on your QT tank have biological filtration? If not, your QT will cycle, regardless of how much display water you use.
