10% water changes daily while the treatment is going on(7-9 days) to keep things safe. If this country is willing to take the risk of electing a socialist, then I am willing to put this in my tank. after all....if they start taking my money and sending it to people who dont work, then I will not have tanks anymore anyway,.

It also works a little slower than copper, but reports say it does work
This is what I mean. One person has read reports of it working in 7-9 days and another says it takes longer than copper, which takes three weeks to work. Which is it?

Beth, I have no plans to run experiments on my DT. When I have the chance, I will try Quinine Sulfate in a QT, in a controlled environment, without any inverts. This way I can first see if it will work or not.
I think that it is a good idea, if you are going to experiment with this medication, to do it this way. An experiment in a well established quarantine tank is certainly the way to go if you are going to try. Trying out medications that you know very little about in your display tank is just not a good idea. Especially when there are conflicting stories about how effective the medication is and what it will or will not effect.

It should also be noted that invertebrates in a live rock and reef system, are not just the animals that you have added, but also the micro inverts that come in on live rock. There is no way to measure the causalities to these tiny, but extremely important populations when adding medications to a marine system.

Excellent point

I have taken out all live rock and inverts from my fowlr. I am going to use the QS as soon as it gets here.
Beth, you're right about having all the right equip and researching everything before you jump in to sw, but its not a perfect world and we all learn in different ways. I usually learn the hard way. But I still learn! Think of all the mistakes you made when you were new!

I made more mistakes then I am even willing to talk about, however, I started the hobby in ancient times when the only info out there was the guy at the LFS, a magazine or two and a few books.
Trail and error was how I learned mostly, and it was not easygoing.

Please don't take this as rude but there is a big difference between making mistakes because you simply don't know any better and purposely doing things against what you are being told. I wish you the best of luck with this. Keep an eye on your ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. You know that this medication will have an impact on your biological filtration and may kill any microorganisms in your sand.

well, I am a small buisiness owner and unfortunately because of the turn in our economy, I have a bit less money than usual and find this qs treatment the best option that I have. Otherwise, I would have gone out and got a good size qt(which im sure I will do in the future) I would also do copper, but dont want to forever kill my option of turning my tank into a reef down the line.
so here i am in this situation, you guys are all cool for caring.

Yep, the economy has impacted many, especially small businesses. You would think that with the gas prices falling, things would pick up a tad.
Good luck!

Salt Nate, for what it's worth I think it'll work. Just based on what I've read. Since you have already taken out the LR and inverts, I don't see anything bad happening. Good luck and keep us posted.
