I have all my inverts in a quaratine tank and all my fish are in the display tank. I do have some live sand in my display tank. Everything is set up the way it is b/c of what the girl a my LFS said to do. My QT is 10 g. My problem I noticed tonight is that I tested the level of copper in my water. The test for copper the girl gave me at the LFS reads 0.25 up to 4.0. The directions that came with the Sea Cure says I shouldn't have a level of more than 0.20 in my tank b/c it could start to become toxic to my fish. How the heck am I supposed to know what's in my tank if the level of the test doesn't start being noticeable until 0.25? Are there test out there made for this? How am I supposed to know when it's safe to add my inverts back in the test isn't able to read the correct level in my tank? Please help!
My current levels:
ph: 7.8-8.0
nitrite:0
nitrate: 20 (getting better compared to the 40-80 it was the other day. Can I do a water change to the tank during this copper treatment to help lower the nitrate more or should I wait till the treatment is through?)
Ammonia: 0
Alkalinity: 8
Salinity: 1.020(according to my plastic hydrometer, which I guess is not good either)
If you recommend I do something different please let me know. I'm all ears about doing what I need to do the get rid of this and make my tank better and healthier. Thank you for you help
