I read an interesting article for an aquarist magazine how a university quarantines new arrivals through hypo. Not only do they have their tanks lowered to 11ppt (1.008sg) but acclimate the new arrivals for ph and temp, then straight to the hypo tank without going through the 48hr salt drop process and have had good results.
Have you heard of this or tried it? I was thinking if its successful than couldn't a QT be kept in hypo instead of dropping and raising the ppt everytime with new or sick fish? Do you recommend hypo on all new arrivals or only when needed?

Is that article online?
You can do the acclimation over as little as 12 hours. I personally don't think that is healthy, and it is usually a wasted efffort since ich is not effected while the parasite is attached to fish. So what would be the rush?
