Beth, please just answer my question, then erase this thread...
1. you said that talking about gay marriage is offensive, and yet you let a thread continue about killing babies? i'm sure that women on this site that had aborted their children were mildly offended.
2. this is the aquarium ... that means we are not talking about boring old fish... we're talking about other topics.
3. please don't think i'm just being a little punk... i am just extremely curious as of why my thread was closed?
and once again, please don't get mad, i'm just frustrated that it was erased, and i think as long as it was watched closely, as Barry said it could stay on a short leash.
and 4. please nobody but Beth respond to this thread as it is only for her to answer my question., and after this thread after you answer i won't bring this up again, please don't be mad.

I dont think it is right for people to be able to marry within the same --- , that sets a presidence that it is ok for same --- couple to kiss in public in front of children which in turn makes them think it is ok. It is giving them a LEGAL right to show affection in public and if in god we trust , WTF??
I agree alot of other threads have stayed open when they shouldve been closed , Im somewhat offended with the Right or not Thread seeing that I cant have children.... I beleive it is personal selection at this point. But one of the mods has upset me by writing me off so i guess Im partial.

Abortion and gay marriage are two different topics and really can not be compared. Abortion, which is legal in the USA, is not criminalized, even though many have very strong opinions about whether it is right or wrong. It is something that is on the minds of everyone and, though such a topic may lead to strongly expressed opinions, etc., it is not going to target a certain population. It doesn't single out a certain group of people and it is not a topic that the general public will likely fall into flaming and bashing mode, unlike the gay marriage topic. Gay marriage is not generally legal in the USA and the topic does directly effect a certain population that are often subject to crass jokes and mean-spirited attitudes. As a moderator here, I made a judgment call, and the call was that the gay marriage topic would only lead to problems and may get to the point of being offensive to gay people who visit our forums. My bet is that the topic would have deteriorated very rapidly, and even if it didn't, why go down that road when I'm sure there are individuals, our forum friends, who are gay and who likely have strong feelings about this?
