Bicolor Angel scrachting against rocks

I have a Bicolor angel for two weeks now and last night i notice he was scratching his face against the LR but he had no visible signs parasites. He's is eating very well though. should i put him in quarantine with some sort of copper based treatment such as cupramine ? what about the main tank ? should i leave it alone or lower the salinity ?

id say its ich. hope u dont have inverts. good luck.

To battle ich...you need to lower the salt level to 1.009. I highly recommend getting a refractometer as hydrometers are not accurate. By lowering the salinity, the lr will die off. You'll want to place the rock in a rubbermaid tub with water, heater, and a powerhead. That'll keep it alive while you treat the ich.

I have a refractometer. Would it be easier to just put the infected fish in a QT tank and do the hypo there? my tank(125) is onyl three months old with a few small fish right now. I have the folllwing:
2 clarkii's
3 chromis
1 blue throat trigger(2-3")
1- bicolor angel

IMO it would be better to treat the fish in a QT tank. That way you don't have to remove all your LR and inverts. Hypo will kill your pods too. But then you have to catch that fish, which is a whole other story....If you don't see any spots on the angel yet just watch it closely. I have seen my fish rubbing on the rocks before but nothing ever came of it.

right now it would be easy to cath him b/c i only have about 40lbs of lr in the tank . The angel just started to rub against the lr yesterday and there are no physical signs of ich right now. A friend recomended to do a fresh water dip for precationary purposes but i'm not sure if this will actually stress him out more.

I wouldn't do the dip yet. I would just keep an eye on it. You're lucky you don't have alot of LR. I am trying to get a chromis out of my 75 that has about 90 lbs of LR.
