Well two nights ago, we were on our walk with our two dogs. Abbey, 2yo yellow lab, started pulling on the leash and whining (she doesn't bark). We saw a black streak coming from the back of a house up a bit. It's like 8pm so pretty dark. Of course, we were in the spot that doesn't have lights. To be honest I thought it was a coyote. From our house, you can ocassionally hear them howling.
Walking up, we then see a huge shawdow coming at us as well. Thought it was a Rotty. We get to the light, can sort of make them out, and the dogs stay on the other side, but as we walk by, they start following. They get close enough, we either have to run(terrible idea) or at least try to say hi.
They turn out, very thankfully to be very nice dogs. One Golden Retiever, one Lab. Unsure of what to do. They had tags, so they were someones. There's a semi-busy rode on the other side, so we didn't want to leave them and have them get hit. Call my brother to come with the truck. We toss the strays in and we walk home. We hang in the backyard with them and definitely can tell they're friendly. Let Graice out, and they play for a while. We were planning just leaving them outside till we could call the vet's office on their tags, but a nasty thunderstorm was rolling in. Try them out inside, and they act completely normal. PHEW!!
Anyways, call the vet on their tags the next day, and contact the owner and they came and got them yesterday. They were so thankfully and happy. Didn't really get to chat for too long, but they did say the big one was full Lab, and that he was quite the $$.
But is he really? He was awesome, a loving guy and a big ole goofball. His mouth reminds of a mastiff, and his coat isn't a solid chocolate, but has those many different colors in there, like a tabby cat.
Our Gracie is 90lbs, and picking him up, he seemed close to 130lb'ish
Anyway here are some pics and vids I took;
Gracie to the left, our other two black labs, and Big Boy to the right;
Taking a break
Check out that paw!
And the Golden Retiever
Vids of them the next day with our 4 Labs.
