Big clear cloud forming around my Bali feather duster

You know how when a snail dies a cloud of slime grows around him? There is an ENORMOUS slime cloud around my feather duster but

when I approached him to see if he was dead he quickly pulled in his crown... therefore he's alive... What can that be?

I noticed a huge cloud this morning, and now I returned from school and it has become substatially bigger

Well he died so dunno if that was spawning or what...
