i have a 5-6" naso tang in a 55g
i also have a 2" blue hippo tang in my 220 gallon
the plan was to move the naso to the large tank, but when i ordered the blue hippo he was much smaller than i planned for.
the hippo has been in the tank for a month now and is doing great.
im afraid to mix the big naso with the baby hippo. should i wait until the hippo grows up a bit more?
will the naso kill my baby hippo if i add them now?
the baby hippo is a bit fiesty, he tries to dominate my 3" coral beauty.
so i started to wonder what if he teases the naso and being the naso is bigger he may kick the babies butt??

That may or may not create an issue for you. Since the larger is the one being introduced it may work to your advantage (the other way around would be much less likely to work) and a 220 has ample room for both to coexist. There is no way to know for sure without trying - I can only recomend that you monitor them closely and inspect regularly for any kind of fin damage or injury. Don't break down the 55g just in case you need to go back to it. GL

I was a little worried when I added my Yellow Tang. He was twice the size as my Hippo Tang, however the Hippo Tang was NOT intimidated, it was actually the other way around. After just a couple of months my Hippo Tang is the same size as my Yellow Tang, she seems to be my fastest growing fish. My Hippo is the Queen of the tank and keeps everyone in check, including my Flame Angel. So for the sake of the Naso being in such a small tank I would go ahead and add him to the larger tank. If you have plenty of rock work the Hippo Tang will have many places to hide if she does in fact get scared. Good luck!!!
I'm jealous, I would love to have a Naso, but my tank is not large enough (125 gallon).

yeah my hippo is pretty tough too. im surprised for such a little dude

thats why i was worried about adding the naso, just in case my hippo doesnt realize his tiny size and he may pick a fight with the naso and cause problems.
there is plenty of rock work in the tank.
im undecided with this one..maybe i should wait until he puts on another 2"?
the naso has been in the 55 for about three months now. hes very healthy and strong, the hippo is still young and fragile...ahh this is confusing

I currently have 5 tangs in my 220 gal,The largest is a Naso tang and the next biggest is a Yellow tang, third in size is the Sailfin tang then a Blue hippo tang and last is a Tennet Tang. The Naso is Show size 11 inches and the rest are between 5 to 7 inches. There are no problems between them,an occational chase may insue but thats it.

Nasos are usually pretty calm for a tang and with the other being small and a different kind it probably won't see it as much of a threat. You could always buy a large breeder net or clear container so they can see each other but not attack and observe their reactions.
