hey guys, on saturday, my lfs is having a huge sale on everything in store. I was just wondering if anyone had had any ideas of what to buy and put in my tank. i hav a 30 that i want to stock.
My wishlist is:
dwarf lion
yellow tang
royal gramma
shrimp
hermit crabs
clown
some corals
anemone
LR
i know there are some things i cannot put in my tank but want to think about putting them in a bigger tank anyway. I also am wondering if ther is a limit to what i can put in a tank in one shot. Oh and btw i currently have 10lbs LR, blue damsel, 4stripe damsel, percula clown, 3 snails, a type of coral with polyps, not sure of the name, something daisie
THANKS

skip the tang, and pick something maybe like a dwarf angel...the gramma may get eaten by the lion? also, the lion may eat the shrimp and the damsels you already have. Id just get the lion OR possibly the dwarf angel, you already have 3 fish in there so HOPEFULLY you have really good filtration? a 30 gallon tank isnt really that much space....

lions dont go with anything thats smaller than it, so hes pretty much solo. the shrimp wont make it to the bottom of the tank with that big mouth in there :p

i have a 30 gal too!
i would say no more than 6 small fish. i would get a pygmy angel fish maybe a couple of nice clownfish, a nice blenny or six line wrasse, or a goby. For coral, depends on ur lighting, if u have more than 65 watts of lighting, then u could do most LPS coral, like frogspawn, hammer, torch, Plate corals. also any soft corals like zoos, mushrooms, and leather corals. leather coral is really awesome! and for shrimp i would get a couple of cleaner shrimp on the smaller side cause when they grow and get big they dont do much scavenging. im not a big fan of crabs, but any kind of hermit crab would do ok. ive had a sally light foot crab they are ok but u have to feed them at least once a week if u dont have enough algae for them. if your lighting is strong enough then you could get an anemone if u want but ur tank has to be at least 6 months old. if u just have normal lighting that came with your tank then u cant really get any coral. lighting is very important.

Definitely do not add more than one or 2 small fish at a time or you will be in big trouble with the tank, IMO. How did you cycle it? what are your parameters? How much LR do you have? How old is the tank?
If the tank is under 3 months, then I would not add more than 1 fish.
Is this a 36 " 30 gallon or what is really a 29 gallon? this footprint makes a huge difference in the tank.
You already have 3 fish. IMO, you will not really be able to keep more than 5 in this size tank. The lion and the tang are out.
The gramma and another clown might be ok, but all can be aggressive (along with your damsels and the clown). Could be a problem.
I would not add an anemone until the tank is a year old, you have pristine water parameters, and intense lighting.
Live rock is ok to add if it is cured (and does not smell). If it does smell it can cause an ammonia spike in the tank.
The biggest mistake in this hobby is overstocking, and doing it fast. Many people get out of the hobby at this stage. sale or not, these are animals, and you have a small tank that is simply not suitable to a lot of fish. If it is young, that adds a further limitation. Patience is key. It isn't a sale if things die...then you just threw money away. :(
