Do bio balls tend to float in (salt)water?

Bioballs are made of plastic with lots of area. Being that saltwater is more dense than freshwater because of the salt, items tend to float. I cannot recall on whether bioballs float in freshwater. If they don't, it is because the water is less dense than salt.
