Bio cube destroyed

So i awoke to a wierd smell this morning comming from my bio cube i turn on the lights and every thing is dead =( and i have what looks like gold flakes floating around my tank my first thought is a light burst in to tank but all lights where fine then look at skimmer its fine then heater

What could cause this its a marineland stealth pro. im assuming my water is done for gotta start all over. Can i re use rock and should i soke them in sw b4 using again? what are chances i can get marine land to pay any thing for what happen to tank?

WOW....so sorry to hear this....they had a LARGE recall on these heaters a while back because of this exact problem
you should contact them, BUT I am afraid all you will get from them is the money you paid for the heater :(
The rock and stuff will be ok.....much life will die though....do waterchanges and start over

There was a recall on the Marineland stealth pro heater not to long ago. Marineland will replace the heater but as for the live stock and such they will not pay for... Good luck...

Should i empty tank and clean out there is gold stuff all over the sand bed. Should i just empty and clean cout and start new sand? do u know if i need recipe for it to get $ back?

If you have gold flakes all in the sand.....IMO I would empty the tank and start over with new sand....who knows what that is

They replaced 2 of ours without a receipt at Pet Smart. No questions asked. I have heard of a couple of people that called marineland's customer service and did get a partial refund for some of their livestock. I think it just depends on the mood of the person in custom service that day but it is definately worth a try. Sorry for your luck...that sucks. Thankfully it didn't do any damage to your house.

PetSmart will replace them without a receipt (you will just need to reference the recall).
