Bio Cube light upgrade??

Right now I have the stock lighting coral light in my biocube 29g. Is there a better replacement that I can just plug and play with no intense mods? I bought some polys here in Utah from a local guy which were really bright and colorful now in my tank they are not as pretty...my water quality is great I can keep bright green candy corals..any ideas swf experts!

20 inch sunpod, 150 watt. Not sure what you consider a major mod
This is the way to go if you can swing it.

i had the same problem. i bought some amazing fire and ice and many other types of zoas and none of them open. my candy cane, favia, and frogspawn were doing great but zoas wouldnt open. i upgraded to a 20k 175w metal halide! and the zoas are amazing well the ones that are there. so i guess go with what subie said

There is a upgrade to have four lights..so adding two to the original hood with a fan upgrade and a few other things..144w

Also with a 20" sunpod Metal H..would that cook my fish tank? Or make it really hot with an increase in temp?

You should be fine, heat-wise, with the sunpod. You run an open top with them, so if anything you could always use a little fan to help lower the temp. Much better option than adding more pc lights

I did the nano tuners upgrad to 144 watts to my original hood. Was nice, got me to the point that any soft coral would grow and had some montipora plates that did well placed at the top of the rockwork. Eventually wanted more SPS and a clam. Went to the Sunpod 150 watt. Don't regret the move at all, wish I would have done the Sunpod first and not the nano tuners.

I have the 4.36 upgrade and house three clams, stylophora, bird's nest and of course the normal softies. Everything that needs intense light needs to be positioned higher in the tank, but it does work. My system is 10 months and the clams are showing no bleaching or gaping.

And again, I am not knocking the MH's, just stating that I cannot have MH's and the PC's are working for me.

So, Spanko, what did you do with the original hood and installed 144 watt upgrade? If Allen7_7 doesn't want to buy it from you, maybe I will.
That being said, I did the nanotuners upgrade that adds just one more cf for a total of 108 watts. My zoas, mushrooms, polyps, halimeda, and hammers are all just fine.
