Well im tring to set up a reef tank still and I was woundering if I need or if I should get a biological sand filter is that something that I really need to get to help my reef get going?

I couldn't say if one is "needed" or not...but I don't believe I know anybody that actually uses one.

No, the wet/dry is a little better than the sand filter .So the sand filter is not needed.
