Bio29 question

Hey guys! I have a quick question. I just won a 6 month battle with hair algae. I now run a Poly-Filter pad over the bioballs in the 2nd chamber and my tank looks great. I stopped using the biocube carbon filters because I felt they restricted water flow even after fully opening the pathway between the chambers. The poly-filter is supposed to remove all the things carbon does. I feel better having at least some carbon, however, and put a fluval carbon bag in the bottom of chamber 1. Will this hurt anything? Is it overkill?

We use the Fluval carbon packs in our 14gal biocube, and they are just fine. Carbon just filters/absorbs, it does not actually release anything into the water, so you should be fine. Change your carbon packs every month to keep up the filtration!
