Biological, Mechanical, Chemical

I just re-read my Idiot Guide to Saltwater Aquirum. I noticed in one of the graphs stating that Wet/Dry is good for Biological, Mechanical and Chemical. Can some one justify the functions please. Thanks

It would be bio if you have a filter medium like bio balls that will grow the necisary bacteria. Mechanical if you run a prefilter to remove the larger particals. And chemical by suporting nitrafying bacteria. I guess that is right.You can also add your skimmer for yet another form of filteration.

Chemical filtration is adding an absorbing material of some kind like activated carbon, chemi pure bags,or phosphate absorbing material. Nitrifying bacteria deal with the biological process.
