black and white percs as hardy as orange?

hi- i am not that new to reef-keeping but i am to black and white perculas. I recently set up a 20g and wanted to put in a pair of percs- one orange and one b/w. i havent been able to find a b/w around here, so i ordered them. the b/w got some kind of disease that coated him in white spots, eventually he died(sadly).
are the b/w ones as hardy? The orange one is doing great, hes been alone for about a month. Is it too risky to order another black and white?

Very hardy fish, I think they are as hardy as the orange false. Only diff is the color morph (I think). Since they can mate with each other they should be the same health wise.
I have 2 black and whites and they are awesome! I actually purchased one from here on swf.com it has now become the dominant female. I've had her for about 8 months. She eats right out of my hand.

i am thinking about ordering for friday. does anybody else have any thoughts? i dont want to order another b/w and have bad results but locally i havent even been able to find a false perc.

I have two black and whites and I have had them since I started my tank 7 months ago and they are doing great. Then I got an orange and white and it died within a week and I don't believe the black and whites killed it. So in my opinion the black and whites are a little bit hardier.

The desease that coated him in white spots was ick. Not knowing how to cure it is one thing, but not being able to id it is even worse. Plz do your homework before jumping into this hobby.

I have not jumped into this hobby. The disease might have been ich (cryptocarion) but no other fish was infected which is not characteristic of ich. The clownfish that did die showed symptoms of white spots for only a day and after three days he died. Ich usually has a longer life cycle since it first appears as tomites and then forms cysts that affect the other fish. The situation could have been brooklynella because it is much faster at causing death, however this is usually on wild caught species that are infected quickly after import and black and white perculas are tank-raised. It has been one month since the fish died and no signs of ich have appeared on any other livestock. Although some aquarists speculate that ich can be present in the tank but a strong fish can fight it off with its own immune system, after a full life-cycle ich comes back much stronger and this would be unlikely. Whatver affected this fish lacks diagnosis because it doesn't match up with common symptoms of familiar diseases.
I agree that people should not jump into this hobby, I have not. I also think people should not jump to conclusions.

Was looking over some of your past posts and noticed you had another b/w perc die Jan 20. So, 2 b/w percs died within a time of less than 2 weeks. Something is wrong here. How long do you acclimate them for?

Sorry, just messing around here. I just liked his defensive response. I have read threads where people attach other for what they have done. When they are just learning the hobby. Too bad they are killing fish.

Well, I did admit I was wrong. But you really know that you should do research on setting up and mantaining a SW aquarium, or any aquarium or any other pets. And really, how helpfull were all the posts between the first post and 72 hours later?

This hobby isn't very easy. People kill alot of poor fish for not having knowing what they are doing. His first thread was like he was a newbie to SW tanks and then he got the wisdom from Thomas. I think he needs to get a hotel for his fish so he doesn't infect his whole tank. I just think he got a sick fish and didn't know how to tread it. But you did jump the gun. And he did have a good come back. Not like Thomas and the whole PLAY SAND thing.

We ordered our b/w perc from swf.com & are really happy with it. It is happy, healthy & just plain fun to watch. It loves to eat & will eat out of our hand.
