Hey everyone!!! I was looking at a website that sold mail-order fish and i noticed that they had a brand new fish called Black Onyx True Percula . I thought they look just like regular true percula clow until i notice that there average price was 100$$ per clown. Im in desperite need of cash and i was thinking that maybe i could get a breeding pair and sell the young when there old enough to leave there parents. Likely i will just sell them to my lfs, that why they will now what people should have them.
My main perpose for telling you this is because i wont to know are there any breeding tips for that perticular kind of clown, it is legall to breed fish for cash(i have no idea) just post anything that you know about the fish.:needhelp: :needhelp: :needhelp:

Tis true....before you raise the fish, you must learn to raise their food. One needs to research the hell out of the subject. You need a totally different tank set up for the fry. You need to learn when it is time to move th eggs from the tank where the parent fish are at to the fry tank. There is a lot more to it that needs researching.
Also, you will not be able to sale them at $100 a pop to a LFS or any commercial store. You might be able to do so to individuals. If selling to a LFS and market price is $100, they the price you will get for them from a LFS will be about $33. The LFS usually make there profit on livestock. They buy it and take their cost and multiply it by three. That is the cost for the customer the buys them from their store. So if you did try to sale them to a LFS at $100, then they would have to sale it for $300. No market for a $300 clownfish.

I know how the lfs would price it but until i get to the point of selling them, i will need some info on the fish itself. Thanks anyway for the tip.

If you're in desperate need of cash, then clownfish breeding would probably not be too good of an idea right now. I don't mean to be discouraging, but breeding requires a decent-sized investment beyond just the clowns.
A member here by the name of TSL started this post awhile back to detail the clownfish breeding process and what is required. If you do go through with the setup and successfully breed the clowns, you would be one of only a handful of reefers in the world breeding Onyx Clowns (according to a breeder of Onyx Clowns near me).

the pair in that picture is owned by a person who breeds them. I saw some pics of his juvis, very nice. I think he is selling that pair(I think like $500) They are a very nice pair.

I have been tempted to buy one, but they are expensive. They are definetly unique looking compared to other clowns. If anyone lives in the Chicago area check it out. They have them in a surge system with a very large anenome. They always lay the eggs on the tile you can see in the picture. I wish I had a picture of the tank with all the young. There is a very large number of them.
