hey everyone!

i've had a black sailfin blenny for five days, and have a few questions
1) how can i make sure he's eating? he likes to live on a rock that has a bunch of holes to hide in...
2) do blennies every swim around? my dad thinks he's uncomfortable, which he might be, and i know they sit on the lr, but do they come out front to sit?
tanks for the help!

my blennies were always the most active guys in the tank...they may hide out for a while until they feel comfy though

Blennies are hit and miss that way. Some may spend most of their lives hiding in your tank, other's will be out in front swimming.

My sialfin is always out in the front of the tank, even sleeps on front glass on nori clip, you can bearly make him out in first photo. He eats everything, and loves to graze on the rocks. He swims around more then he sits.

:joy: thanks for the answers guys! since i've been home, he's been sitting on "his" powerhead & swimming to our overflow wall :jumping: he seems to get tired or have trouble swimmin or something.. it's ok with me if he stays in that little area cause he's fun to watch dive & out of the holes.. and to see him look at his reflection (maybe.. not sure..) in the back glass
still my first question tho, is there anyway to tell if he's eating? :notsure:

That's a typical blenny. They're better at rock dwelling than swimming. When its feeding time mine does the same routine: swim and eat, stop and pant, swim and eat, stop and pant...
