I am having to add new sand to my tank and was wanting to add black sand instead of the white crushed coral. Is this sand okay to use? will it affect my parametes or cause any unsightly cloudy water? or its practically the same as the crushed aragonite?

The black sand is nice. Tahitti moonlight sand is beautiful. The grains are a mix of black and dark blue.

I am not certain if it has a natural buffer in it but being that it is hawaiian sand I am going to say that it most likely does. I have Ivory coast sand (african) in my 55 and plain white marine sand in my one qt. My PH is always dead on. They both came dry in a bag.

Black aragonite will absorb some of the heat and light were as white sand will reflect it....if thats OK and if you like the black then use it....
