once sprouting and wavy leather tree has withered up for last week. It does this every once in a while so I didn't really pay attention to it but last night as I was maintaining the tank, I realized that there were black dots on the darn thing... If I recall, those things are bad. Should I carve it out and also does it only effect leather? or does it effect other lps and sps corals?

nope no new polyps..
black marks actually all over the darn thing.. I just scraped it off the rock with the razor blade and threw it away... I was googling it yesterday and I saw that it was some kind of coral disease found on leather types of coral and I didn't want it to spread to my other leathers on that rock...

I do but I have whole lot of that coral and it was 1 in the morning and I accidently overflowed the garage with my ro and dealing with that, wife, fatigue, I just gave up and scraped it off completely instead of carving the infected part off... I wasn't aware that ypu can clean it off..

Dark spot disease is believed by many to be seasonal; the spots can result in tissue loss. Corals have been known to recover with regrowth of tissue and skeleton

Ahhh freaking hell... now I just feel bad... well I do have a whole bunch of it but still... I could have fixed it, cured it and donated to someone new in the hobby. :/

Ya know, I think you were dealing with enough. Don't beat yourself up too much about it. Frag a bigger one, grow it out, and give that to some new guy. It'll balance your karma.

Thanks and will do so. I have already fragged up some of my over growing zoas and donated to those around me. Next time, I will try trimming my xenia. :/
