bleaching fake corals

imo i dont think its a good idea to bleach anything thats goin to go inside of a tank
but thats my opinion mayb wait for another post

you can bleach them by putting them in the sun for a few weeks. That normaly makes them white. Well, unless they are the good fake corals. They are UV protected.

I beleive you are asking how to clean the alge off of the fake corals. If that is what you are asking, soak the fake corals in a vinigar and water solution overnight, This will cut threw and loosen alot of the alge build up, even the coral line alge. and then take a soft toothbrush and scrub it clean, rinse very well before putting them back in your tank. Vinigar is about the only cleaning agent that is reef safe.

You can also run it through the dish washer with no soap. The heat and steam will clean it. I have not tried it myself but it was mentioned on here before.

I don't know about a saltwater tank but I did use bleach to clean my plastic plants in my fresh water tank. I don't know if I would recommend it, however all my fish are still alive.
