blennies??

Do all blennies eat algae?
I've read on some sites that most do.
I wanteed to get one to assist in the hair algae battle.I'm assumming the lawn mower does the most bang for the buck, but thing is I find that fish unattractive(although I've read it's personality more than makes up for it).
anybody's blennies eat their algae?and if yes what kinds does everybody have? anysuggestions(looking for color)

I don't think all blennies eat algae but there is a good reason that sailfin blennies are also called "lawnmowers" They are strange looking creatures but they are great fun to watch.
If you want to get rid of hair algae then get a Sally Lightfoot crab. If you want a very cool fish that also will eat hair and other algaes get a LMB.
Now, look at this face and tell me this isn't a cutie...

Lawnmowers are graet but beware they can be a bit over zealous sometimes and get territorial. They also tend to nip clams and certain other mollusks. I've heard of some even taking to xenia. Mine however has performed marvelously and not a speck of algae in my tank.

I have a lawn mower blennie who loves to keep my tank clean, but also LOVES the meaty food also! The personality is the biggest seller for me though. He comes right up to the glass to stare at me!!! making me feel as if I were the one being caged........:joy:

lol, looks like lmb's aren't winning any beauty pageants

I had a LMB for about 1 month. He would only eat algae of the live rock. I could never get him to accepts algae sheets or frozen algae food. Hence he went the great fish bowl in the sky because the Live rock wasn't enough.

Sorry to hear that. You could have gave it live macro algaes to keep him fed.
