Does he look like this? I had a hard time identifying this guy when I had him but finally pinned it down to being a Blue Spot Goby.

Thanks for the input so far. I still can't figure out what it is. I was told an LMB where I got it but soon figured out it didn't look like one. It's doing well and seems to get along with everything so far.
Here some more shots from today:

Hmmmmm... not sure what that is.... once he gets acclimated to the tank he'll start changing colors and design patterns and maybe you'll have a better clue. Really don't think it's an algae blenny though..... here's mine:

Funny, I had the same fish, and the same problem. There's a whole family of gobies that all look kind of the same. Ugly fish, and kind of useless, since it doesn't sift sand at all.
JKopp, those photos look more blenny-ish. Not sure exact species, but I'd put it in that family now.

I wouldn't go as far as to say the fish is ugly, I think he is really neat looking. My lmb is the center piece in my tank.

I'm with you -- I don't think either of them are ugly at all. I love their heads and faces and people get such a kick out of them. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Oh I'm not talking about a LMB, I'm talking about th blue-spot goby.
I think LMBs are so ugly they're cute, and I hope to be buying one as my next fish in a couple weeks.

Well, whatever it was it is no more. Came home tonight and couldn't find him/her in the tank. Ended up finding it behind the tank on the floor = jumper. Cool personality... RIP.

Darn, that sucks. Give him a proper burial.
