During my first tank cycle - I had 3 of the Fire Shrimp and 1 CBS ( Do not let the LFS place the fire shrimp in the same bag if you buy a multiple purchase - they'll kill each other !). I let the LFs talk me into buying them and didnt know a whole lot about the Nitrogen cycle at the time. Well to make a long story short - they made it through the first tank cycle and even a emergency ammonia spike shortly thereafter with flying colors. I found it interesting because all of the internet sites talk about how sensitive to water quality they are. Each shrimp has molted about 3 times now in only 2 months - in fact they're getting pretty big. They were shy at first but come out with regularity now ( cept the CBS ). When they molt, they tend to hide or isolate themselves pretty well. The shrimp often chase each other around when they get too close, but nothing has ever happened so far.
BTW I paid $23 for mine, but have seen em as high as 29 around here.
