I noticed this for awhile now, but I am now asking since it hasnt gone away since it started (a few days ago). I was looking through the FAQ and It SORT of looks like stress but the splotches are brownish and his color loks a little faded. I acclimated him slowly (drip acclimation) last Friday. Here are some pics. I have no idea what it is. The pics are bad I know. Sorry.
This is the best pic. it shows his faded color and splotches.

This pic shows one of the splotches on his tail.

Thsi pic is VERY blurry, but it shows a splotch on his lower body.

I am praying that this isnt a disease! Please help!!!

How long have you had this fish? What are your water readings, what kind of tank is the fish in, and size of tank? What are you feeding this fish, and how often?

I have had it for less than a week. I got it last Friday. I havent tested my water today, I will and get back to you. It is in a FOWLR or a aquare tank (whichever you want to know). I am feeding him Seaweed Salad every day. I am not sure if he eats it though, it is usually gone so he must eat SOME. He is currently in a 55. But moving to a 100 later.

We had a wonderful powder brown a while back and his favorite food when we first got him was flake.
You may want to try a variety of foods and see what the fish is most interested in. Along with any suggestions that Beth comes back with regarding any potential diseases. That's my only input from a feeding perspective.
I wish you good luck with your powder brown. I lost mine during the hurricanes that hit florida in 2004. He was our favorite fish and we still miss him alot.

Sorry to hear. I really like my Powder Brown also. He is always swimming in the open. But lately he has been hiding in the rocks. I can see him but he trys to not be seen. I dont know if that helps of not. I will try your advice on flake foods. I really hope he has been eating something, because I am losing my Moorish Idol since it stopped eat. It is so weak, I am basically watching it starve to death... I hate it. Thanks for your reply.

It stopped eating, and is about to die right now. I am very sad. Please dont get one, unless you have a 200g+ tank with 400lbs.+ LR.
