Blue Coraline ?

Over the past month and a half, I have seen a small blue patch develop on a rock where my yellow polyps live. It's spreading fast and seems the polyps are unaffected. Can someone tell me if this is blue coraline ? I have not seen photos of it here, so I'm posting a pic to assist others in letting me know if what's happpening is good or bad. Any and all input is appreciated, thanks in advance. What should I expect to happen as it continues spreading ?

Corraline algae can come in all sorts of colors (reds, pinks, purples, greens, and even blues). From my experience, the color is highly dependent on the type of lighting on the tank. Is it hard? It looks like corraline to me, and that's a very cool color.

Just curious, what lighting do you have? (type, wattage, and spectrum)

After the first (sponge) post I tried to remove some, but it's on there pretty good. I will try to update pics as it progresses.
I have a 90 gal Oceanic Bowfront, with (2) 250W -20K's and 40W of t-5's half & half. The rock in question is 21" deep in the water column.

i saw something like this yesterday. if you touch it, is it stuck tothe rock or can you actually lift it? does it look rubbery? someone had a huge patch of it in their tank, it was just growing around the other corals in most places. You could see that it wasn't fully attached to the rock like coraline. He also said that he doesn't think its sponge because he has taken it out of the tank before.

Wow! My tank is just shy of a month old and I have purple, mint green, white and red coraline. I would love to have some blue. Very nice.

I think you may have something going here.. looks like theres already a waiting list, lol. looks very nice regardless of 'what it is' coralline/sponge or whatever.

if you end up getting it growing on the glass you can scrape it off and put it in another tank and it will grow there too. which i hope happens because its very pretty.

its blue sponge. i have it in my tank as well. it could grow over those polyps, or it could go around them. if your worried, just frag the polyps and move them somewhere else.
