Blue Hippo And Yellow Tang?

Let me re-answer, a young Yellow and young Blue would likely be fine together in a 90 for 1-2 years even, but as they get larger/older, territory will likely be more of an issue......They may be fine as adults too, it's not a bad combo, a lot of people will frown on Tangs in a four foot tank, but I would say if you don't overcrowd it might work out fine.....Keep in mind, Tangs need really high quality water, lots of greens in their diet and good water flow, if you can provide that I would say go for it.

If you are going for the 'Nemo' effect, then it is the Hippo. IMHO, the Yellow will be the hardier of the two choices and will be less likely to outgrow the
90g.

one other problem i have with my Sailfin tang is that any time i add any thing to my tank. weather it is a fish, snail, coral, or even a rock. i have to put into into a plastic breeder box for 3 or 4 days because if not my Sailfin will kill it (unless it is a rock, even though my sailfin will bit a new rock 5 or 6 times.)

one other problem i have with my Sailfin tang is that any time i add any thing to my tank. weather it is a fish, snail, coral, or even a rock. i have to put into into a plastic breeder box for 3 or 4 days because if not my Sailfin will kill it (unless it is a rock, even though my sailfin will bit a new rock 5 or 6 times.)

i have a 7 inch hippo tang and a 5 inch Sailfin Tang in a 55. i know its a small tank for the two but so far they get along great. and both of them seem to have enough swimming room so far. but i plan on getting a much better tank as soon as i get enough money for it.
......? still no tang police, weird. hope you get a bigger tank soon...plz

both my tangs are doing great right now. my hippo was getting skinning until about 3 weeks ago because the sailfin who is getting a little fat was eating all the food. now the hippo is a little fatter and my sailfin is as fat as ever.

I have a hippo and a yellow tang in my 75g and they are fine. They are both small and I plan on upgrading to a 6' aquarium in about a year. They have never bothered each other at all. They eat from the same algae clip and usually swim together. I am aware that they will get aggressive in my tank if they mature, but I will have a bigger tank by then. The hippo was very small when I got him and I added the yellow about three weeks later.

What is enough swimming room?
Don't mean to start a debate, but 55s have a very small footprint.
Can you keep a tang or two in a small tank, sure. IMO the number of people who try it and fail is greater than the number that try it and succeed. Tangs are like cows, they need plenty of grazing space. Tangs are also open-water fish and need space.
Of the two, the yellow is a better choice, but IMO if you want a larger fish look at an angel.

Tangs are like cows but they are not open water fish. They are reef fish that graze on rocks all day every day. Basically when you see them in the ocean they are basically face down on a rock all day. Tuna are open water fish. As for tank size if bought small they can last in a tank like a 55 for quite awhile. My sailfin was in my 55g for 2 years before moving up to my 150g. He was cramped though.
