ive got a blue hippo i just bought 2 weeks ago i do not use a QT and hes got something bothering him, hes the only fish i have added to my tank in well over a year it dosent look like ick its not white, it looks like brown spots on his sides and not on his fins, he used to only have it on one side now both sides, he slides agist rocks, eats fine and gets along with my sailfin tang just fine
my tank inhabits 2 maroon clowns, a flame angle, sailfin tan, brisletooth tang, a satin angle, a coral beauty, roal gramma, haha a baloon belly molly, neon goby, a yellow watchmen goby, a long spine black urchin, 3 blue crommies, cleaner shrimp, a pepperment shrimp, and that hippo
i need to set up my med tank but i dont know what to treat him for dose anyone know what it is?

the brown spots are little cratter looking divits in his skin, when i frist seen them they was white but soon turned brown, he will not let my neon goby on him, or the cleaner shrimp, that i have noticed, he aproches the cleaner shrimp but when the shrimp trys to get on he swims off, they are about the size of a ball point pen, and it looks like i was pokeing him with it with the way they are concave looking

Thats a real large bioload for a 75g and especially no quarantine, could be stress related.

no i have a 120 gallon but i started 4 years ago with a 75gallon, and its now the sump on the 120, which is 3 years old now, i took a pic of the fish and took it to the best fish store around here ( not where i bought this fish ) and asked what it was and they said it was a type of borrowing parsite and gave me meds for it, and said that it dosent hurt corals or inverts and is safe for all liveing things in your tank, but that it might make my bio bed waver alittle but would come back just to make sure i watch my tests and make sure to do a water change if i need to
the name of the product is kanaplex?? anyone ever used this and is it safe like they said?

Black ich needs to be treated with formalin bathes. The procedure is in the FAQ Thread. Formalin can not be put into a display tank.

ok thanks beth for hanging in there with your input, ill put it to use and clean this fishy up..i would hate to lose him i got him for 44.95 i couldnt resist but maybe i should have paid the higher price 79.99 from the store i normally go to and know that he treats his fish when they come to his store, ive never lost a fish or had any problems with the fish from his store, but a friend told me about this other fish store that i should check out and seen the prices on the fish and couldnt help myself and bought that fish...all his fish where almost as cheap as online, i bought 1 fish online and i hated seeing it when it came in...i couldnt do that again
